Alumni Profile: Anthony Cangemillo

  • Name: Anthony Charles Cangemillo III
  • Major: Mass Communication (Broadcasting) – Despite Dr. Buckman’s repeated attempts to get me to switch over to journalism
  • Graduation Year: December 1997
  • Current Employer: Timber Creek High School, Orange County Public Schools
  • Current Position: English instructor for ninth grade honors students
  • Job Responsibilities: Ensuring all students are capable of reaching benchmarks set by the state of Florida’s Sunshine State Standards
  • Awards Received: A first-place “Mark of Excellence Award” (SPJ) for an article on cockfighting in the 1997 issue of Vérité; A “Big Wolf Award” for excellence on parent contact
  • Advice for New Graduates: Upon graduation, find a job in the field that you love. If finances are a problem, get a second job to supplement your income regardless of the hardships involved. I took a job out of my field after college, which paid handsomely, but was very unfulfilling. If not for the encouragement of a good woman, I would still be manacled in the “golden handcuffs.”
