Communication Instructor presents research at International Conference

Maniko Barthelemy, Ph.D(c)

Broadcasting Instructor and Ph.D. Candidate Maniko Barthelemy presented her research titled From Enrollment to Graduation: Reducing Attrition Rates of African American Male PWI Students at the 2024 International Conference on Urban Education (ICUE) in Cancun, Mexico https://www.theicue.org/. Her study uses a qualitative methodology to explore the viability of a cohort college recruiting strategy to minimize attrition rates of African American male students who attend Predominately White Institutions in the South region of the United States. Mrs. Barthelemy is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of New Orleans and her research focuses on school discipline reform in Louisiana. More than 700 scholars, academia professionals, and college students attended the conference to share best practices and to engage in open dialogue sessions ranging from teaching students with various learning potentials to navigating the road to becoming a college president.
